The Winthrop News has been bringing quality news to the farming community of Winthrop and the surrounding area since 1887. The Winthrop community, located at the intersection of highways 15 and 19, boasts of many local industries and a new rapidly growing industrial park; quality city parks; downtown area featuring local shops, restaurants, entertainment, and a banquet facility; many churches; a variety of local professional services; annual festivals and a charming home town feel. The Winthrop News offers local current events, full coverage of the Gibbon, Fairfax, Winthrop School district, legal publications of the City of Winthrop, a glimpse of decades past in Twice Told Tales, weekly Sibley County Court Reports, shared classifieds, advertising, and special pages with sister paper the Lafayette-Nicollet Ledger, and shared County Tabs with other Sibley County newspapers. Editor Michael Mattison leads this award winning weekly paper with a circulation of 1,200. Publisher Douglas Hanson publishes the Winthrop News and the Lafayette-Nicollet Ledger as well as custom printing orders through DH Publications. Subscription rates for the Winthrop News are $32.00 per year for Minnesota residents and $37.00 per year for out-of-state residents. The Winthrop News office is located at 110 North Carver in downtown Winthrop. Office hours are 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 8 a.m.-12 p.m. on Wednesday.
